Matteo Luccio, M.S., President

Matteo Luccio has thirteen years of experience as a magazine writer and editor. He has a master’s degree in political science from MIT and co−founded the public policy magazine Oregon’s Future, which he edited for four years. For the past eight years he has edited technical magazines on geospatial technologies, as managing editor of GPS World and Galileo’s World, editor and publisher of GPS User Magazine, editor of Earth Observation Magazine and, from February 2005 to December 2007, editor of the on−line weekly GIS Monitor. He also writes a monthly column for Professional Surveyor Magazine.

Prior to becoming a journalist, Matteo was a research analyst on public policy issues for a private think tank and for state and local government agencies. His varied career has included employment as a case worker for homeless families, as a sailing instructor, and as an Italian teacher.

Marjory Hillary Bryan, Marketing

Jory Hillary Bryan, though new to geospatial technologies, arrives prepared with her own brand of marketing program management, event management, business consulting, and public relations — and more than ten years of experience in marketing across a wide range of industries and regions.

Jory started Glow Productions & Management, a Chicago-based marketing agency, in 1997 and ran it until the end of 2001. In 1999 she helped an artists collective start a non-profit organization, the Conjugate Projekt, which worked with the City of Chicago to create programs and events for inner city youth. From January 1996 to April 2006, she was the marketing director and chief communications officer at Southport Records (Northport Records/ Asian Improve Records/ Sparrow Sound Design). Throughout 2007, she was the Program Manager for BFG Communications in the Memphis market and oversaw three extensive marketing programs before relocating to the Northwest.

Previously, Jory has managed marketing programs in New York, Miami, Tampa, Portland (OR), Los Angeles, and other cities. She is also trained as a sound engineer, specializing in both live and studio engineering, and has monitored sound at such events as the 1997 Free Tibet concert in New York and the 2001Chicago Jazz Festival in Grant Park.


Michelle Donahue, Geospatial Technical Adviser

Michelle Donahue has more than 12 years of professional and technical experience dealing with all aspects of geospatial technology — including working for both private and government agencies, such as the US Army Corps of Engineers, the US Air Force, and Tribal Communities. She has worked in such diverse areas as GIS management, Air Force Master Planning, utilities management, cultural resource management, and engineering services. Her experience includes management, marketing, and support of a GIS program; analyzing client needs; outlining the benefits of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to customers as well as providing instruction; and integrating GIS into various projects and organizations.

Michelle is experienced with survey- and mapping-grade GPS and post-processing tools (Trimble trained and certified), RDBMS design, development, management, and implementation, and needs analysis to implement a GIS. Michelle is ESRI trained and certified for ArcSDE Administration for SQL Server. She creates UML models/Case Tools for utility management in a GIS environment, is proficient with AutoDesk's CAD and AutoCAD Map, and understands both Visual Basic and HTML programming languages.


Jane Ganter, Senior Editor

Jane Ganter began her editorial career in 1963 with the Colonial Williamsburg News. She had previously been a reporter and advertising copywriter for radio and television stations. She also wrote for and about ski patrol and mountain rescue operations. As a freelancer, she edited scholarly books and articles for professors of psychology and journalism and edited for doctoral candidates in social sciences, physics, engineering, linguistics, and other disciplines to improve their fluency in English as a Second Language.

Jane "retired" after 20 years in magazine publishing; 16 of those years focused on the pharmaceutical industry. Her decade as editor-in-chief of Applied Clinical Trials, along with membership in ACRP and DIA, honed her familiarity with FDA and international regulations and guidelines. Post-"retirement" contracts have included an adjunct faculty post with George Washington University’s Clinical Research Administration Program, work as a consulting editor for BioExecutive International, and editing and writing for the Mayo Clinic’s Web site


Judy Sawyer, Senior Editor

Judy Sawyer is a writer and editor with 30 years experience in custom publishing, magazine design, writing, editing, and production. As managing editor for Pharmaceutical Executive Magazine in Eugene, Oregon, for three years, she was instrumental in helping the magazine win the national Neal Award for two years in a row—the first two national awards in its history. In addition to editing every word that went into the magazine, and screening and approving all submissions, she specialized in writing executive profiles, the magazine's signature cover stories.

Prior to that, as an editor, writer, and manager for New York City-based magazines Meetings & Conventions, Meeting Destinations, Incentive World, and Successful Meetings, she spent 20 years traveling and writing about the attractions and meeting facilities of dozens of cities and regions around the world and reporting on everything from meeting security and crises to industry trends.


Gail Elber, Senior Editor

Gail Elber is a writer and editor specializing in manufacturing, construction, and engineering topics. She has worked for magazines about brewing, plastics manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, AutoCAD, decorative concrete, paint, and the Global Positioning System. She has also done marketing work and written manuals for Orenco Systems, a manufacturer of wastewater equipment. She has written business-to-business advertising copy, developed sales and training presentations, written magazine articles and product documentation, and researched markets.


Jay Hutchins, Senior Editor

Jay Hutchins is a writer and editor specializing in public affairs. He is currently the executive editor of Sockeye Magazine, formerly Oregon's Future. His specialty is content and style editing for opinion pieces and making complex subjects in science, economics, energy, education, and healthcare accessible to general audiences.
